I liked Melbourne a lot. The centre of the city was a mix of modern skyscrapers and historical buildings. There were little alleys with cute cafés next to each other. A lot of shopping malls and stores at the streets :)

Outside of the City Centre in South Yarra is a great shopping street: Chapel Street.
There the stores are smaller but more individual. And expensive. Maybe comparable to the Schanzenstraße in Hamburg and Prenzlauer Berg in Berlin. I like.

Back from Melbourne

Yesterday in the night I arrived at the Gold Coast. 4 days Melbourne, 1 day Great Ocean Road. We were lucky with the weather in Melbourne but I'm really glad to feel the warm and humid air in Queensland again.
But somehow I got sick again since yesterday evening...

Karma stole my $40...
I tried to trick the train system here to get to Brisbane airport because to get there you have to pay a 20$ airport fee. I found a way to avoid that or at least  to get it A LOT cheaper. But a direct result from that was that my two 20$-notes slipped out of my wallet...mean!
Tja, kleine Suenden bestraft das Leben sofort...

Holidays ended too quickly! Now I'm in the library again doing my assignments... :(

Scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef

I did a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef when I was in Cairns 3 weeks ago. I'm a bit slow about uploading pictures but they are coming eventually as you can see :)

It was a grey and windy day. The sea was very uneasy, bumpy waves. I got very seasick on our way to the Reef... :(
But once we were there everything was sweet :) We snorkelled on that first spot, it's really awesome at the Reef, sooo many colourful fishes!
On our second spot we went down with our diving instructor :)

I dived before in a swimming pool a couple of years ago but doing it in the actual sea, especially at the lively, huge reef is something else!

The camera didn't catch the beautiful colours that were down there unfortunately.

There is actually a clownfish hidden in the anemone. Just look closely on the right side.

My favourite: Turtle :)

It looks all dark and grey but actually it was light and the fishes had a shiny turquoise colour!

On our 3rd and last stop we snorkelled again but it was too windy and the waves were pushing us back to boat, so there we didn't actually see much. I held a sea cucumber in my hand!

A really cool day :)
